There is nothing nicer than coming home to a warm and toasty home. This however can come at a rather hefty cost especially most of people’s energy bills goes to heating and hot water

According to EDF, Heating is one area where you can make the biggest savings on your home’s carbon footprint. So, it’s important to make sure your heating system isn’t just cheap to run, but energy-efficient too.

Gas, LPG or oil based systems rely on a boiler to burn fuel and heat your water. The water is then circulated through radiators or in pipes under the floor to heat your home. As the floors or radiators warm-up, they heat up the air in your rooms.

You have more variety in electric heating systems. Electric systems traditionally rely on separate heating appliances for each room, whether it’s a plug-in fan or bar heater, or a network of storage heaters that run on cheap off-peak electricity.

The advantages of using electrical heating systems are that there is a large variety of products you can choose from. There is also no carbon dioxide output. Most modern heating systems also have temperature controls so you can manage your heating usage better.

A disadvantage of using electrical heating is that the cost per unit is more expensive than gas, and older systems are less efficient.

A gas boiler heating system is cheaper to run, and most modern boilers are more efficient than they used to be. If your boiler has a smart thermostat, then it will be easier for you to control your heating throughout your home.
